Reviews:
BEST FILM SCORES OF SEPTEMBER 2019
In Noah Land, composer Leon Gurvitch applies piano in many fascinating ways. The bulk of the score consists of largely solo piano, combining mature and well-developed pieces with others that feel more akin to classical improvisations or etudes. In all, Noah Land showcases fantastic piano work and a penchant for the experimental – something always welcome in film music.
BY THE FILM SCORER
The score for the film was written and partially performed by neoclassical composer Leon Gurvitch who performs the piano passages that create the backbone of the work along with a small chamber ensemble of strings and woodwinds. The end result is an incredibly rich, intimate and at times rather dark score… An overall mood of melancholy surrounds Noah Land, and on occasion, breaks into near thriller styled writing… That said, the majority of the score is centered around Gurvitch’s virtuoso piano performances accompanied by strings and woodwinds… There’s really no reason not to give this emotionally raw work a go.
BY SOUNDTRACK UNIVERSE
NOAH LAND is a score that should be listened to alone and maybe in a darkened room with no distractions, it will transport you to a place that is maybe less stressful than the one you are in. Dramatic, romantic, and highly emotive. Recommended.

Notice from Leon
The idea of this album „Poetic Whispers“ appeared 2 years ago but
I have composed some pieces since about 10 years. „Poetic Whispers“ is one of them.
I came from Belarus to Germany in 2001.
Homesickness, nostalgia, sadness but also hope for a better life.
The melancholic feelings of my first years abroad have never left me.
Where there is light, there is always shade.
These changes of mood reflect my new album „Poetic Whispers“.
Astor Piazzolla matches this image quite well. The music of the Argentinian master celebrates exactly the tension between despair and vitality. I admire his music a lot.
Freedom is an important issue for me, also by making music.
Improvisation is its best expression.
The album combines my compositions with those by classical composers like Erik Satie or Gabriel Fauré. I feel a close connection with Igor Stravinsky. I think he was at home everywhere and at the same time everywhere a stranger.
I always carry music, melodies in me. My own compositions often arise spontaneously. I composed „Autumn Song“ a week before the recording. I believe this song made the album complete.
To write and play music is my elixir of life.
